All students in pre-service education courses must have a valid blue card in accordance with the Commission for Children and Young People Act (2000) in order to be placed within a school or childcare environment.

All forms can be collected and submitted through the school of education office at no charge.

Applications can take up to 10 weeks to be processed by the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guidance.

It is illegal to attend your placement in a school/childcare centre without a valid blue card!

Q: What if I already have a Blue Card through an external organisation?
A: Students who have a valid blue card through an external organisation need to complete an 'Authority to Confirm' form which is available from the School of Education Office. This is so that if your card is cancelled or withdrawn at any time during your PEP, then we are notified.
